Well the SAUG Summit day 1 was extremely impressive, with outstanding sessions throughout the day. All well attended too.
The highlights for me were the Business Intelligence story from the Walt Disney Company. A very relevant story, as my company is embarking on a similar journey with BI. Thanks to Ken Hierman for his session and great delivery.
The Queensland Rail session on Transformation, underpinned by an ERP Implementation was also very informative. Again, aligned in many ways with Australia Post and our IT and Business Transformation program.
The SAUG Cocktail party topped off the day nicely. It was well attended, with the crowd yelling for more from the band "Almost Famous", right 'til the end.
While the band was great, I think even they were pleasantly surprised by the hidden vocal talents unearthed by the "volunteers" who took to the stage to belt out several numbers.
We uncovered a couple of closet vocalists, who probably could have excellent careers in Entertainment rather than IT if they wished.
Looking forward to Day 2 - should be great.
